During these boisterous times, the Formula 1 is trying very hard to find its way to “normality” and while the Grands Prix organisers are working non-stop to find a 2020 schedule, people eyes are already staring at the 2021 season. Indeed, the drivers’ market of the 2021 and 2022 seasons is shaping like one of the most controversial since a long time, with a domino that took Carlos Sainz to Maranello, Daniel Ricciardo to Woking and left Sebastian Vettel without a seat.

While going through all of these changes, there is one seat that remains untouched and at the same time almost free, like a luxurious promise for a better career : the Mercedes’ “other” seat, which is at the moment taken by Valtteri Bottas.  

There have been many rumours about who could be Lewis Hamilton’s new teammate and many more contestants too. There is Sebastian Vettel, with a foot in the Mercedes’ garage and the other with a flip-flop in retirement, but there is George Russell too, a young promise of this sport already under Mercedes’ wing as test driver.

Through all the chaos, Valtteri Bottas experiments a sort of “serendipity” mixed up with a big amount of confidence on his team and on his future as well.

“I’m only contracted for this year. That’s how the contracts were made before- the Finn stated - but we still haven’t done a single race, so any speculation before we start racing is talking, no more than that, and it’s not a new situation for me. It’s been the same every single year. I’ve one single target in my mind for this season, and I’ll try to take all the other thoughts away. If I can follow those targets and my performance targets, and if our team can perform well, then there’s going to be no worries about any contract.”
