FIA and Ferrari are looking for young girls in motorsport
The Italian team is the first one to join "Girl on Track Rising Stars", an FIA initiative to help young female drivers in motorsport.

Ferrari is looking for young and talented girls to be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. The Italian team, together with the FIA, will support the new programme Girls on Track Rising Stars, to help young female drivers in motorsport.
The FIA and the Maranello team have signed a four-year agreement to help girls aged from 12 to 15; the deal includes a chance to be part of the Driver Academy of which Charles Leclerc, Ferrari current driver, as been a part of.
As the deal says, one driver will be picked for an entry in the Formula 4 Championship in 2021, while a second driver will be picked the following year.
This means Ferrari will have two quotas for women in the following years.
“We are firm believers in the value of helping youngsters develop in motor sport" said Mattia Binotto, Ferrari team principal.
“The Ferrari Driver Academy has been operating for over a decade now, not just purely and simply selecting the best drivers, but also working on their cultural, technical and ethical education.
“With this in mind, we felt we had to make a further effort to expand our area of operation to include female youngsters who want to get on in motor sport. Although there is no actual barrier to their participation, we are aware that it is harder for women to progress in this field.”
Ferrari is the first F1 team to join the Girls on Track Rising Stars programme. This iniative is not the only one made for Women in motorsport: the W Series started last year, giving the chance to women to compete in their own championship.
