Ecclestone: “I'd like to see Vettel in Mercedes against Hamilton”
Mr E is conviced that duo Vettel-Hamilton could cope well under the Brackley roof. And admits ' Ferrari did not had a leader'.
The former boss of F1 opens to a possible landing of Sebastian Vettel in Mercedes, the indisputed territory of king Lewis Hamilton:
I'd like to see him in Mercedes, obviously I'd like to see him against Lewis Hamilton: this would be good for F1, good for the sport and good for the people that are watching F1
But beside military terminology, Bernie Ecclestone sees no wars in the future:
I think both of them get on with each other with any problems. It's not the case what the rig goes on: both of them got super-talent so it'd be a super-super-team. I don't see any problem with Lewis being concerned at all and I know that Sebastian would love to have the opportunity to race against him
In the light of the Coronavirus crisis, Formula 1 might anticipate the 2021 engine restrictions
Then he moves the attention to the former house of the German: reading through the lines it's evident that Mattia Binotto is a clever engineer but cannot be compared to the figure of a Team Principal, a leader:
Michael's [Schumacher] situation was a little bit different because I once said to him "Who's running the team?": he said "I am". And that's probably the truth why they were successful, because there was no influence. The trouble with the Italians [Ferrari], they got a lot of leaders but they haven't got a leader. In my opinion, anyway, the person is now in charge of the team is a super engineer, being with Ferrari for more than 20 years
