In the original Formula 1 calendar of the season 2020, the race in the Netherlands was scheduled for May 3. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Dutch stage was postponed indefinitely.

As championship participants, including teams, promoters, and the FIA, lose their finances due to the lack of racing, it is rumored that the season 2020 may start with 'blind' Grand Prix – without spectators – to minimize the risks.

However, the organizer of the Dutch Grand Prix made it clear that such a scenario is not possible for Zandvoort.

"A race without fans is an unthinkable scenario," Lammers told.

"If you have a race, is has to be without compromise. You have to be able te celebrate. For us it’s about the return of Formula 1 after 35 years. That should be a great party that you want to celebrate with everyone."

Lammers says they absolutely understand the intent of the FIA and FOM, and appreciate what the championship management is doing to protect all its participants and spectators. He hopes Formula 1 will soon return to normal life, where it will be possible to hold a race without risks for everyone.

"We can’t forget that the FIA and FOM are facing an incredible task. They are trying to save as much as they can; teams, promotors, sponsors. They are all doing what you can expect from them, they are thinking about all scenarios. It’s a good thing."

"We can only hope that we’ll get a green light soon and that we’ll quickly have a Grand Prix again. Because that would mean that the virus is a little bit under control, and that’s the most important thing in all of this."

One of the options is to hold the Dutch race in August, when the schedule of the championship provides a break.
