Countdown to the 2020 F1 season begins. After a 35 year absence, Formula 1 will return to the Netherlands.

The Grand Prix is back on the F1 schedule which will be hosted on the Zandvoort Circuit, among the Dutch dunes.

The works have been completed and everything seems ready fro the Dutch Grand Prix. The young Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen gave his first laps on the renewed circuit alongside the two-time Indianapolis 500 champion, Arie Luyendyk.

Verstappen was back on track with the RB8, but he wasn’t the first driver to turn the circuit. In fact several pilots had preceded him. Before him, Tom Coronel had been allowed to make a few laps on the renewed track.

A formal reopening of the Zandvoort circuit, however, wouldn't have been complete without Max Verstappen, since he played an important role in Formula 1 return to the Netherlands.

Against all expectations, his lap time wasn’t timed as a track record and his first lap was opened by the Dutch Grand Prix sporting director Jan Lammers who waved the chequered flag.

Furthermore, the presence of Arie Luyendyk has also been symbolic because the curve that leads to the finish line bears his name. The 18-degree banking makes it the most breathtaking curve on the entire circuit.

We just have to wait for the first weekend of May to see him on this track again.
