Hamilton wins the last race of the year! The six-time champion smashed it, but we get a little close to one of the most exciting challenges of the race, namely that of the Racing Point driver, Sergio Perez.

The Mexican started from the 10th position and he was one of the drivers with a free tyre choice. From the first rounds he was at Norris’ back in the battle for the seventh place, but on the second lap there was a tangle engaging the Racing Point drivers and Pierre Gasly who was forced to stop.

For the unavailability of the DRS, during the first time of the race, the drivers had to get past each other without the drag reduction system’s potential support. This is the case of Sergio Perez who got past Magnussen without it throughout the sixth lap, but Bottas was behind him after overtaking on the Haas car.

Along the race, the Mexican driver did a pretty great job struggling with Valtteri Bottas for P8. Furthermore Checo managed to overtake Daniil Kvyat having not stopped yet.

He also fought against Ricciardo for P11, in the middle of the race, after coming in for the stop which was an advantage for him who ruled with much fresher tyres.

Unfortunately Lance Stroll - his teammate - retired, so he was the only one who could give points to the team and he did it!

Once again we saw the final battle between Norris and Perez for P7.

In spite of Norris’ pace and the encouraging message from the McLaren Pit Wall, Perez ended the race by taking Lando’s seventh position.

This is Sergio Perez's announcement after the race: "We had a very strong end to the race and my final lap overtake on Norris in Turn 11 was one of the best of my career.”
