Leclerc identifies Ferrari’s weaknesses in Abu Dhabi
Charles Leclerc comments on his error in FP2 and addresses Ferrari’s main issues at Yas Marina.
Charles Leclerc finished FP2 after clocking the third quickest time in Abu Dhabi, edging teammate Sebastian Vettel by less than half a tenth.
The Monegasque had a close encounter with the wall during FP2, without any damage unlike his teammate. Both drivers committed the same error on the same spot earlier today. The third sector appears to be Ferrari’s weakest point in the Abu Dhabi track, as in the qualifying simulation Mercedes managed to make the difference through the last corners.
“We struggle on the third sector and then I lost the car there, where Sebastian also did. The most important thing is not to repeat the same mistake” he said.
Leclerc also outlined that there is plenty of room for improvement on the Soft tyre, and feels he can take out a few positives from this challenging day for Ferrari.
“We will try and improve the performance on the Soft tyre for the race.”
“Overall I’m happy with how the day went because it didn’t start well for us. FP1 was one of our toughest sessions this year, the car was very difficult to drive. In FP2 we made a massive step forward, so we need to keep it up”.
