The 23-years old Red Bull driver has an eventful debut season. Alex managed to drive for two teams, earned points and almost got the podium. Now, in Abu Dhabi, he talks about his experience from this year.

The Yas Marina track is quite good for Alex. In times of GP3 the driver got at this track pole position, and then in Formula 2 had good performances. As Alex said, he likes this track.

"It was great to start from the pole, but then I crashed the car. Still, I performed well on this track in GP3 and then in Formula 2. Yas Marina is an interesting circuit, a bit like Sochi. It is important here to feel confident in the car."

Despite the weekend in Abu Dhabi is final, Alex doesn’t think about the rest. Now his goal is to finish the season successfully.

"I want to finish this weekend successfully – that's the goal. I spent eight races at Red Bull Racing and learned a lot. I’m progressing, but I concede to the teammate and I try to reduce this gap. There is another race ahead, another opportunity to gain experience. Then the tests are waiting for us, so the work will continue."

Looking back to the whole season Alex remembered the best races for him this year. Among many races, Alex even mentioned Brazil, where he missed out on a possible first podium in the career.

"At Hockenheim everything went well. At Silverstone too... I think the results have improved in the second half of the season. Even the race in Brazil wasn’t bad in some ways. I've had some great performances."

Speaking about frustrating race at Interlagos, the driver doesn't think the race was terrible for him. Even despite the collision and losing a chance for the podium, Alex considers that Grand Prix wasn’t too bad.

"I wasn’t really upset, but the team was. We could earn a lot of points. Everything went well for Max, because both Ferrari drivers didn’t earn points. But it would be great to win the winning double – it's a great result for everyone, and for me as well."

"However, the weekend wasn’t bad. Of course, some things can be improved, but there are more advantages. I'm sorry I had an accident, but it shouldn't overshadow the weekend. It happens. It's racing," - Alex said.

Alex had a very bright first year in the championship. On the one hand, such big events like changing the team in the first year of performances can provide a great deal of stress on the rookie; on the other hand, thanks to this Alex got a huge and invaluable experience. Alex told that after the whole season in Formula 1 he learned the main thing - to focus on yourself and don’t listen to others.

"It’s important not to pay too much attention to what others say, including you [journalists], it’s better to focus on yourself. Formula 1 is a team sport, but a lot depends on the individual. I have to ask myself the questions, how to become better. This is the main thing for me now. In addition, I need to work a little more calmly in training, try not to overdo it."
