The “Gasly – effect”: Toro Rosso thanks Honda for the big performance
An unexpected podium conquered by Gasly shows a big improvement for Toro Rosso and the team thanks Honda
Gasly this season conquered his first podium ever. Unexpectedly, he did not obtained this big result with Red Bull, but with Toro Rosso.https://www.motorlat.com/notas/f1/13825/gaslys-glorious-grand-prix
It was a blast, as the young driver had experienced a traumatic underestimation from Red Bull when they sent him back to Toro Rosso, Christian Horner himself said that the Frenchman was capable of bog results but, according to him, he needed a less pressured environment to express his qualities at his best.
And he did it: during the Brazilian Grand Prix, we saw this little Toro Rosso conquering the podium ahead of the big bad Mercedes driven by the 6-times World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
The Faenza-based team made some big steps forwards this season, above all during the second part of it. Its boss Franz Tost thanks Honda for that.
“We started well using Red Bull’s suspensions that were very good, but we could not borrow many elements from them for the regulations.
The aero changes allowed us to improve. It was Honda. They brought some aero updates , altogether with the spec four engine and the fuel in Suzuka.”
Honda engines’ performances are still far from Ferrari and Mercedes’ ones but considering how fast they obtained these excellent results there is a chance to improve even more and see a three engines-battle for the first place in 2020.
🗣️" It’s the last race of the season so it’s a special weekend. It’s going to be very important for all of us at Toro Rosso as we want to finish as high as possible in the Constructors’ Championship."
