This Saturday morning in Monza was characterized by Alex Peroni’s terrifying crash during F3 Race 1; therefore, the FP3 chronometer started running as planned, but the FIA kept the Pit Lane exit closed, because of the marshals working at the Parabolica. The sausage kerbs have been, in fact, removed, in order to avoid other episodes similar to the one happened this morning.

The Pit Lane exit has been officially open at 12:10, and the action can finally start.

Today’s session will be fundamental in order for the teams to get ready for Quali, as yesterday both sessions were characterized by rain and low temperatures.

After 25 minutes from the start of the session and several installations lap, Sebastian Vettel leads the group with a 1.20.611s, followed by Charles Leclerc 4 tenths behind, for the joy of the tifosi.

Leclerc improves then his lap time and takes the lead with a 1.20.452s.

Meanwhile, both Mercedes drivers are on a race pace simulation, but with different strategies: Lewis Hamilton is running wearing the Soft compound, while Valtteri Bottas is on Mediums.

Later on, the 5 time World Champions changes his strategies and comes back on track wearing mediums.

Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas tried to emulate his fellow countryman Kimi Raikonnen, with the flying finn move on turn 5’s kerbs. But that didn’t go as planned.

Another news from this FP3 is the FIA new regulations about track limits in Turn 11: if the cars goes exceeds the track limits with all four wheels, then the current lap time and the consecutive lap time will be both deleted.

The first one to to experience it is Kevin Magnussen in Turn 11. His lap times are then deleted. Albon did the same mistake shortly after.

After a brief check in the garages for everyone, everyone came out again when there are only 15 minutes left.

Sebastian Vettel takes back the lead with a lap time of 1.20.331s.

During the very last seconds, everything changes again: Vettel mantains his lead, but is Max Verstappen now following him just 0.032s behind. Valtteri Bottas an Charles Leclerc are respectively 3rd and 4th with the same exact lap time: 1.20.403s. Daniel Ricciardo is 5th, while Hamilton stops in 6th position. Local hero Antonio Giovinazzi closes the session with a 9th position.

Here's the complete results from the third and final session of Free Practice before the Qualyfing.
