The wet qualifying didn’t turn out the way that many fans hoped. The session was held in dry conditions as well as FP3.

The session has started with Charles Leclerc’s mistake and spun the rear wing into the barriers at the final corner. The driver went to the pits, where mechanics have tried to fix the car.

The Williams driver George Russel after unseccessful practices on Friday and Saturday has made amazing shot to Q2 zone. Unfortunatly, in few moments the driver was knocked out by Nico Hulkenberg and joined the teammate Robert Kubica in eliminating zone.

During Q1 there was a strange episode between Antonio Giovinazzi and Lance Stroll, the race direction has decided to investigate it after the session. Both drivers didn't move to Q2.

Daniel Ricciardo also were out of Q2. Something have gotten in his way, so the Australian finished the session on P18. 

Ferrari has managed to fix Leclerc’s car for the Q2, so the Monegasque was able to continue the run after his error in Q1. However, made few short runs he returned to the garage and didn’t appear on the track till the end of Q2.

Mercedes drivers were much quicker in comparison their speed in free practices. It seems the team may has been turned up the "party mood" of the engines here.

Q2 has finished with Magnussen, Giovinazzi, Kvyat, Albon and Hulkenberg out from Q3.   

In the beginning of the final quali part drivers of top 3 teams have started to exchange the best times: firstly, Valtteri Bottas has set 1:15.136, then Max Verstappen has beaten Bottas result by 1:14.958.

At the last attempt Max has improved the result and set amazing time of 1:14.572. The Dutch has got the first pole position in his Formula 1 career.

Mercedes still couldn't manage with their cars and finished qualifying behind Verstappen: Bottas is the second with 1:14.590 and Hamilton is in P3 with 1:14.769. 

Despite Ferrari has fixed Leclerc's car, he couldn't improve the results, so the P4 was a good achievement for him in the session. Sebastian Vettel hadn't enought downforce and took the fifth position, right behind the teammate.
