German GP | Good qualifying for McLaren as Sainz will start 7th in Hockenheim
Strong performance once again for Carlos Sainz in Germany as he will from start the race from fourth row. Unlucky day for Lando Norris, only 16th after a battery issue.
It was a good day overall for McLaren as Sainz showed once again the team’s progression on the midfield with seventh on the grid. The Spaniard made a great lap in Q3 to be in the fight for best of the rest: “Obviously very happy with this qualifying. Especially because today I think our competitors had a bit of an edge over us.” Sainz qualified behind Raikkonen and Grosjean but will fight back into tomorrow race: “We managed to react very well throughout the session and I put together some solid laps to progress and put ourselves into Q3. We are in a good starting position for tomorrow.”
A good Qualifying! Great effort from everyone and some solid laps to extract the maximum of the car today! Rain or no rain, we’ll try and seize another points finish from P7!#carlo55ainz #GermanGP@McLarenF1 @EG00 pic.twitter.com/ZZskzO7nk3

Not the easiest of the day for Lando Norris who’s not happy for his starting position in 16th: “I’m obviously disappointed. It’s the first time I’ve missed out on Q2”, he said. The young rookie, despite a battery pack problem who didn’t lead him to push 100%, was able to admit he didn’t perform as expected: “There was more potential in the car as Carlos showed by getting into Q3. I just didn’t hook the lap up today when it mattered. I’ll just have to make up for it tomorrow.”
And looking about tomorrow’s race, temperatures are expected to fall even more with high chance of rain during the race. Carlos Sainz would rather pick a wet race than a heatwave like the previous days, as the Spaniard believes it could be a danger for the car: “Everyone is speculating about the weather conditions for the race, but no matter what comes we’ll be ready to fight for another points finish", Sainz stated. I don't care wet or dry, but I don't want for sure hot as yesterday. The heat is the problem, for the rest I don't mind”
