Formula 1 Radio - Radio Spielberg
The most famous Formula 1 radio show is back with the sassiest radio communications: Formula 1 Radio is back! Guess who’s on top of our Hit Parade in Radio Spielberg and who earned our Special Prize.
Everybody wear your lederhosen and get ready to sing Austrian songs under the big bull at the Red Bull Ring! Or we can just listen (or read) to team radios, keeping our normal clothes on, what do you think about it?
On a small circuit like the Red Bull Ring is easy to get nervous and scream like hell when the one in front of you doesn’t start when the light turns green… okay, that is not the case here, but our drivers were a bit nervous during last weekend.
Valtteri Bottas - “Racing Point car nearly crashed into me.”
“Made any contact?”
Valtteri Bottas - “No.” (FP2)
Kevin Magnussen - “Okay, I couldn’t get out of the way.”
“Okay, we know you tried, understood.” (FP1)
Alex Albon - “I didn’t know what to do with the braking.”
“Watch for Magnussen, check your mirrors.” (FP1)
“He’s on a run lap.”
Nico Hulkenberg - “The Toro Rosso didn’t see me there, he was.. on line, backing off.” (FP2)
Daniil Kvyat - “F**k, I went wide.”
“Hulkenberg is pushing behind.”
Daniil Kvyat - “I would take another one if possible.”
“Yes, we can.” (FP2)
Sometimes these misunderstandings ended up friendly.. with a penalty.
Kimi Raikkonen - “Hamilton completely blocked me.”
“Yeah we saw that.” (Q1)
Other time we almost needed stewards, police, all the FIA people from Paris and even an ambulance.
To George Russell - “Kvyat on a timed, just watch out, he’s going through corner now.”
Daniil Kvyat - “What the **** was that!? I almost killed someone! Whoever that was needs a penalty. Unbelievable. ******* idiot.” (Q1)
A scary moment for @kvyatofficial as he comes close to a collision with George Russell during qualifying 😱#AustrianGP 🇦🇹 #F1 pic.twitter.com/WpVJxrFTEr

I know he is much mature now, but you know what they say, once a Torpedo… ask Seb for info.
Sometimes engineers don’t make the situation easier…
Nico Hulkenberg - “Was it 60?”
“It’s not correct, I don’t know, sorry.” (FP2)
Or they don’t have the time to say everything.
Lando Norris - “Why am I at the bottom of the pack again? Is everything fine? Do I need to use anti overtake?”
“Use more anti overtake if you can, we’ll explain later, red flag, red flag, no overtaking, recharge on please.” (FP1)
Valtteri Bottas - “F**k, traffic. How was the margin? I could’ve left a bigger gap if you told me.” (Q3)
Sometimes they can understand you with a single word.
Romain Grosjean - “Front left.”
“Understood.”
Romain Grosjean - “All over the place, brother, don’t know if we can carry on.” (FP2)
Or they don’t get the point quickly..
Pierre Gasly - “No power, no power.”
“Copy.”
Pierre Gasly - “Really, no power.” (FP3)
Max Verstappen - “Let me know the gaps.”
“Yeah.”
Max Verstappen - “You have to let me know the gaps close to me, I want to be closer to them, like everybody else.” (Q3)
Max Verstappen - “I’m clipping a lot.”
“Stand by.”
Max Verstappen - “I need more power, mate.” (Race)
Max Verstappen - “I’m losing power guys!”
“Fail 3, Fail 03, Fail when you can.”
Max Verstappen - “What?”
“Fail 3, Fail 03, Fail.” (Race)
Losing power, but gaining positions 💪

It's just @Max33Verstappen things 🤷♀️🤷♂️#AustrianGP 🇦🇹 #F1 pic.twitter.com/cqGMUuSicW
Or they can just resign themselves..
“Box this lap, box this lap.”
Lance Stroll - “…… why?”
“We may have sustained front wing damage.” (FP1)
Lance Stroll - “I have no power so I don’t know what we’re doing right now.”
“We’ll sort it, Lance.” (Race)
Lance, ask Kimi, he always knows what to do.
It is true that the Red Bull Ring is one of the shortest track on the calendar, but our boys had to deal with fuel saving during all sessions.
“Kevin are you okay to go up to high fuel or or do you want to try again with these used tyres.”
Kevin Magnussen - “No, not ideal to go high fuel immediately… I don’t know.”
“For now will stay, will stay low for now. Box now.” (FP2)
Nico Hulkenberg - “Is it time to go high fuel, otherwise no point really pitting, we can go another lap.”
“We just need to learn about the car, Nico, then we’ll do whatever’s left at the end.”
Nico Hulkenberg - “Yeah, I’ll do one more lap.” (FP2)
Charles Leclerc - “Can I stop fuel saving?”
“FS4 just for tyres.”
Charles Leclerc - “Does this mean I don’t have to do the lift?”
“That is correct, but you need to take care of the tyres.” (Race)
But what we loved most about the Austrian Grand Prix were the celebrations! We had a lot of happy drivers out there.
Kevin Magnussen - “How was that? How was that? HOW WAS THAAAT?? UUUUUUH!”
“P5, P5!!!”
Kevin Magnussen - “UUUUUUUUUHHHH AAAAAH, f**k that, good job guys!”
“Save fuel! Wow, unreal.”
Kevin Magnussen - “I will, I will.” (Q3)
Kevin is contagious! I can imagine Guenther dancing at the Pit Wall, such a beautiful sight.
Someone took his first point (and got an hair cut for free!)
“Okay Antonio great job, first point.”
Antonio Giovinazzi - “Finally guys, finally, f**k! It was really a hard race, but thank you… Ah, finally!” (Checkered flag)
A first #F1 point for @Anto_Giovinazzi meant the hair had to go... ✂️😂

It was another good weekend for our funny McLaren boys.
“Yes Carlos! Yes! P8, P8 from P19 on the grid.”
Carlos Sainz - “Aay yai yai yai! Aay yai yai yai! Wooo! Aay yai yai! Woah that was tense. Good job guys! Incredible pace. Who would have thought that we would have fought for P6 with that pace!? Incredible! Wooo!” (Checkered flag)
"Ay yai yai yai!"

Simply sensational, @CarlosSainz55 👏👏#AustrianGP 🇦🇹 #F1 pic.twitter.com/l2xTUDxOGv
“And that is the checkered flag, you finish P6, fantastic job.”
Lando Norris - “Carlos P8 I see, nice job!”
“Yeah Carlos got P8. Someone ordered 8 points in milk and the milk man delivered.”
Lando Norris - “Eheh.” (Checkered flag)
Charles Leclerc thought it could be a great weekend since his result in Qualifying, but things didn’t go as planned.
Charles Leclerc - “I don’t know how the hell I’ve done the lap, I was way too close to Hamilton, but I had no choice.” (Q1)
“P1, P1!”
Charles Leclerc - “Come on baby, yes! Feels good.. on the other hand I’m very sorry for the team for what happened to Seb, but thank you.”
Mattia Binotto - “Tempo straordinario, Charles, bravo bravo bravo, per te e per la squadra, peccato per Seb e per tutti i nostri tifosi, bravo.” “Fantastic lap time, Charles, bravo, you and the team. A shame for Seb and our fans, but bravo.” (Q3)
That's put a smile on the face of Ferrari fans 🙌@Charles_Leclerc storms to pole! #AustrianGP 🇦🇹 #F1 pic.twitter.com/YVZcm8OMiB

Guess who was the one who celebrated on Sunday?
“And that my friend is 2 in 2. Absolutely class of the field. Awesome.”
Max Verstappen - “Yes boys, come on! Yes. Wow mate hahaha. Woah! Who would have thought that after lap 1!? Ha ha. Great job boys. We’re definitely catching them. Good job! Great job all weekend!”
Verstappen crosses the line -

F1's youngest ever top-two finishers took it to the last lap #AustrianGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/wPRECyzYvm
Christian Horner - “Max you drove a mighty race, you are the man, what a race! We’re so proud of you.”
Max Verstappen - “Ahah, two in a row, Christian, at home, not too bad.”
Christian Horner - “Amazing, on this first win as well. Absolutely amazing.”
Max Verstappen - “Yeah, awesome job, guys. I think we had some good power today on the straights as well, that made us do the overtakes as well.”
“I don’t know what to say, I’ll keep it simple: quickest car on track.”
Max Verstappen - “Yes, the car was incredible.” (Checkered flag)
Imagine how happy Fernando Alonso was on Sunday. And he wasn’t the only one pissed off.
“Stay calm, close your lap, the win should be yours.”
Charles Leclerc - “Yeah.. anyway, we’re gonna comment it. I was on the outside, just as he did the lap before, anyway, I hope the stewards will see right.”
“You did. A really good job.” (Checkered flag)
Other drivers were a bit sad and pissed off at the end.
Sebastian Vettel - “Well I fought I tried everything guys. Grazie ragazzi.. la macchina è stata forte, (the car was good) but I struggled with he rears. Thanks.” (Checkered flag)
Pierre Gasly - “Congrats to Max, to the team, really impressive job. Was pretty hard again, we’ll keep working. Really happy for you guys, congrats to Max again.” (Checkered flag)
Daniel Ricciardo - “I know we can be better, I can be better as well.. I gotta keep improving.” (Checkered flag)
But the Prize for the most sad team (you know guys, you can’t win all the time, leave something to the other kids!) goes to.. the Silver Arrows.
Valtteri Bottas - “Thanks, tricky race.”
“It exposed all our weaknesses.” (Checkered flag)
Lewis Hamilton - “This feels like the hardest race I’ve ever had.” (Race)
And Lewis will be even more pissed off when he’ll find out he didn’t even made it to our wonderful Hit Parade.
Third position for Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc: the pair delivered quite a show for the Formula 1 fans and, while Max was cheering on the radio during his bounce back, Charles was a little bit quiet.
“Get in boy!”
Max Verstappen - “Yes boys cmon! ” (Race)
Max Verstappen - “Ahaha yes!”
“This is game on!” (Race)
“Verstappen behind, one second.”
Charles Leclerc - “Leave me alone.” (Race)
I’m starting to believe Charles is taking private lessons from Kimi.
Second place for our one and only Lando Norris, who is in charge for the final battle for the Radio Throne: Haas boys, you have a great contender.
“Fantastic job, fantastic job mate. Lando, if you can just hold Ricciardo in your DRS. Hold him to allow to have DRS, as long as he can’t pass you.”
Lando Norris - “Like, forever?” (Race)
Forever? Forever-ever? Forever-ever? 💍

I mean!!
First place goes to the one and only Ice Man: we love you Kimi.
“Hulkenberg quick behind, okay.. no, no, all okay, Hulkenberg all okay.”
Kimi Raikkonen - “Hey, is he quick or no?”
“Nono, don’t worry.” (Q1)
Kimi Raikkonen - “Ayee, f**k, awful job. The Toro Rosso didn’t help in the first corner.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry for the late call, that’s my fault.”
Kimi Raikkonen - “No no, that was fine, but when I studied my lap it was in front of me first corner.”
“Okay, fine. At the moment we are P11.” (Q1)
Until he gave his best during the race.
“Try to attack him now, if not we have to let Bottas through.”
Kimi Raikkonen - “Yeah but the Mercedes is not coming full speed.”
“I know they are barely the same pace than you, that’s a problem.”
Kimi Raikkonen - “Well *** sake, come on, Mercedes.”
“Let him through, let him through, let him through.”
Kimi Raikkonen - “But he’s not ****** coming. That’s the issue.” (Race)

ADORABLE.
And for the Special Prize: Honestly, what are we doing here? please, just do something for this penalties.
Because we don’t know anything anymore.
Max Verstappen - “He turned in on me.”
“There’s nothing wrong with that mate, nothing wrong with it.” (Race)
Charles Leclerc - “What the hell is that?” (Race)

What’s going to happen in Silverstone, Kimi eats an Ice Cream and gets penalty?

And by the way, Happy Birthday Daniel and Sebastian!
