The start of the season showed a Ferrari often fast on Friday, which does not make Free Practice 2 result necessarily decisive, but still the symbol of a track theoretically favorable to the Maranello team. Ferrari absolutely needs to get a result and return to victory, after a championship start that saw Mercedes win six races out of six, with five one-two and a second place in Montecarlo as best finish for Sebastian Vettel. The team led by Mattia Binotto has announced before the Canadian GP that there will be no revolutions or "B cars", but a constant and punctual evolution that will make the SF90 finally competitive against the silver arrows dominance.

Charles Leclerc was fastest on friday, but he showed caution in front of the microphones: “It has been a positive day: the step we've done from FP1 to FP2 is very good; now we need to do the same one from FP2 to FP3 and FP3 to quali, and then hopefully we can challenge Mercedes", he said after friday pratices.

But above all, Ferrari absolutely needs to find the right cohesion and concentration as a team, to avoid serious mistakes like those committed on Saturday in Monaco with the qualifying strategy for Leclerc. The Monegasque is proving to be very fast and able to put a big pressure to his four-time world champion teammate, but he must be able to realize his talent by bringing home the result. His race in Monaco has certainly warmed the hearts of the fans, but it is necessary to be able to exploit the speed of the SF90 in the streets of Montreal to aim for the first victory of his career in Formula 1.

The Canadian circuit proved to be a friend for Ferrari fans, with Vettel winning there last year. The championship standings this season see a profoundly different situation, probably compromised in a definitive way. Nevertheless, the Maranello team cannot afford to give up and must recover the gap from the opponents in such a way as to attempt a desperate recovery, given that we are only one third of the length of the championship. Will Leclerc and Vettel be able to reverse the situation, starting with securing a front row lock-up for the start of the race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve?
