Azerbaijan GP: Alfa Romeo has learned about the problems with the Raikkonen’s wing in China
As Kimi said, his penalty in Baku wasn’t a surprise for the team.
The holder of P10 in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix race Kimi Raikkonen was excluded from the qualifying protocol because of the front wing, which didn’t pass the technical inspection of the FIA. As the driver said, Alfa Romeo knew more about these problems in China, but didn’t have time to prepare the new wing modifications.
"Honestly I don't know what happened. We got a message, and the wing suddenly became illegal. In the last race, I damaged the wing, and we lost downforce. Unfortunately, we knew about the problem even after that stage, but we didn’t have time to build a new wing."
Despite the start from the pit lane, Raikkonen was able to break into the point zone during the distance thanks to the early pit stop, and finished 10th.
