Formula 1 Radio - Radio Sakhir
The most famous Formula 1 radio show is back with the sassiest radio communications: Formula 1 Radio is back! Guess who’s on top of our Hit Parade and who earned our Special Prize in Radio Sakhir
Welcome back to Formula 1 Radio! As our drivers were today on track for testing, it is time for you to discover the best team radio from the F1 Race weekend. I know you can hear us loud and clear, but I feel like some teams need a radio check.
“Talk to me.”
George Russell – “Okay.” (FP1)
At least the radio works in the Williams garage. We know the Grove team is facing some issues and the first part of the season will be a test for them. Considering how slow they were during the first race, we can say they were still in Barcelona (I’m sorry everyone at Williams, I love you and I can’t wait for you to recover), but things are getting slightly better for the English team. Well, kind of.
George Russell – “Something’s wrong…. When I turn into right.”
“It’s high temp.” (FP1)
“Check on the DRS.”
George Russell – “DRS is not working.” (FP3)
There’s still something to fix, but at least the radio works. We can’t say the same for someone else.
“Let’s leave recharge ON please, recharge on.”
Lando Norris – “Leave it on or leave it off?”
“Leave it on for the formation lap which is what this is.” (FP1)
Maybe there’s some traffic on the McLaren frequencies, or it is just Alonso’s presence that makes everyone nervous? The King of Team Radios monitored everything from the McLaren pit wall, who knows if, in a near future, he will be Gunther Steiner’s first contender as the most loved team principal in the pit lane!
Our current favourite Team Principal has faced some issues with his beloved French driver, Romain Grosjean, who hit a 3 grid- places penalty after an episode with Lando Norris.
Lando Norris – “This guy is blocking me in the final corner. F**k!” (Q1)
Romain Grosjean – “We got completely f**ked by the Ferrari in the out lap.”
“We saw, we saw.” (Q1)
Romain has always been considered the black sheep of the grid, but he did have something to say to his colleagues too in Bahrain.
Romain Grosjean – “Look at the damage… stupid **** **** on turn one they’re crashing!” (Race)
Like, c’mon, crashing on Turn 1? He would never do that.
Never.
I swear.
The Bahrain Grand Prix weekend has been full of incomprehension, between drivers and stewards too.
Lewis Hamilton – “Who’s that behind me?”
“It’s Kvyat’s car behind.”
Lewis Hamilton – “Torpedo.” (FP2)
Kevin Magnussen – “Is there a yellow flag in turn 2?”
“I have no yellow flags, no yellow flags anywhere right now.”
Kevin Magnussen – “There’s a guy waving yellow flag.” (Race)
Nico Hulkenberg – “What was that? He hit me? He had plenty of space.” (Race)
Carlos Sainz – “How’s the car? I cannot believe this guy, I cannot believe.” (Race)
You will soon discover who the real winner of every possible chart is (you already know who he is), but there’s a real contender to the F1 Radio Throne.
He is currently on top of the midfield standings, he already made us dream with his memorable team radio.
Kimi Raikkonen has performed an entire show in Bahrain worth of Beyoncé’s best live.
Kimi Raikkonen – “The McLaren almost hit me.”
“Ok copy that.” (FP1)
Kimi Raikkonen – “That f**king Toro Rosso just pushed me completely off the circuit.”
“That was Albon.”
Kimi Raikkonen – “F**k him.” (FP1)
Kimi Raikkonen – “Okay, why is it like when I have a PT4 on the steering wheel and the dash is PT3? Which one is it?”
Kimi Raikkonen – “When I put the switch in PT4 it says PT3.”
“Ah, okay, I got what you said. All right, not sure.”
Kimi Raikkonen – “Which one is it?”
“We’re having a look.” (FP3)
Kimi Raikkonen – “I know, I have PT4 on the steering wheel and dash says PT3. So there’s one step difference, so tell me which one is right.”
“Try PT3, I don’t have time to have a look now.” (FP3)
Kimi Raikkonen – “I know you can’t talk, but just to let you know, I don’t have tyres temperatures..” (Pre race)
Until the classic Kimi Raikkonen team radio.
“How’s the front wing?”
Kimi Raikkonen – “I don’t know, you have to tell me.”
“Okay.” (Race)
Classic. Genius.
But you know, this time I can’t do a Hit Parade. This guy deserved everything this weekend, but unfortunately he lost it all. He conquered his first F1 podium in Bahrain, it is time for him to get his first win in our Radio programme too.
He is always very quiet on the radio, as he barely talks during session.
The first highlight of his race weekend?
Pole position!
Charles Leclerc – “Yes! C’mon, grandissimi! Tomorrow is the race and it’s where we score points, but it’s a good beginning. Thanks guys, car was amazing. I will push to try and finish the job tomorrow.” (Q3)
And he made very clear that he likes silence.
“Radio check.”
Charles Leclerc – “Radio check is fine. Please, can I focus on driving?” (Pre Race)
Until the green light..
Charles Leclerc – “I’m quicker guys!” (Race)
Sebastian, can you hear us?
Everything went almost as planned for the new F1 bright star, until..

Charles Leclerc – “There’s something strange with the engine.”
“Okay copy that we’re taking it.”
Charles Leclerc – “THERE’S SOMETHING STRANGE WITH THE ENGINE! F**K!” (Race)
And our heart broke.
Charles Leclerc – “What’s happening???” (Race)
“Follow the numbers on the dash.”
Charles Leclerc – “Yeah but, I can’t… Oh my god. I will try.”
“Keep calm, we need the car home.”
Charles Leclerc – “Yes, I will try. I’m keeping calm.”
“Copy.” (Race)
“38.0 target lap time.”
Charles Leclerc – “I can’t, I can’t take, because I’m so slowly I’m spending a lot of time in the straights, so very difficult to save anything now.” (Race)
Charles Leclerc – “Ah… well guys I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say… what an amazing race we had.” (Chequered flag)
And we are really sorry for you. And we are not alone..
Lewis Hamilton – “Well guys that was extremely unfortunate for Charles, he did such a great race.” (Chequered flag)
Sebastian Vettel - “Sorry guys, my mistake. I got surprised and lost the rear and I couldn’t catch it anymore. Really sorry. And not sure but what I saw on tv, I’m really sorry for Charles, please tell Charlie he drove an excellent race and he should’ve won it.” (Chequered flag)
"You drove fantastically... you've got a long future ahead of you"👌

Big respect for @Charles_Leclerc from the race winner 👏#BahrainGP 🇧🇭 #F1 pic.twitter.com/QHiuz3uoPZ
Congratulation Charles. You deserved it and we are sure you’ll get your sweet revenge back.
The Monegasque won everything possible on Formula 1 Radio, but for his first podium he has to thank the Race Direction and the Safety car, but mostly, Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg.
No one can leave our “Special Prize: Honestly, what are we doing here?” from Renault.
Daniel Ricciardo – “Everything just got out.” (Race)
LAP 55/57: Now it's agony in the Renault garage as both Ricciardo AND Hulkenberg suffer engine faults on the same lap #BahrainGP 🇧🇭 #F1 pic.twitter.com/8GL7oToa9c

Nico Hulkenberg – “Oh god something happened with the engine.”
“Scenario twelve.”
Nico Hulkenberg – “You gotta be kidding me.”
“Unfortunately not. You did a great job. Really sorry.” (Race)
And we are not kidding as well.
Thanks for following us, it was everything from Radio Sakhir! We can’t wait to roar again in China!
