Force India's Sergio Perez finished FP1 in P8, having run a total amount of 23 laps, whereas he completed the second free practice session in 9th after 32 laps.

The Mexican prefers keeping it low profile, but he was one of the brave drivers who managed to keep the DRS open, entering the extra DRS zone without any harm. "The other drivers have been pushing really hard, which is why have seen some incidents already. It's been a positive day for us, we have run a lot, we have gathered all the information we needed."

The Anglo-Indian team successfully introduced the new aerodynamic package, which had been delayed from Austria. "It's been a busy day for the team. We had an update package to evaluate in the morning session, where we split the test plan between the two cars. Understanding how the tyres work on the resurfaced Silverstone track was one of our main aims from the day: we gathered a lot of data about all the compounds and we expect the conditions to remain very hot for the rest of the weekend."

The midfield always sees a very tight contention amongst Haas, Renault, McLaren and Force India. Checo's impressions are encouraging, as he would boldly imply that the car could enter Q3 tomorrow. "The margins are, as always, very tight in the midfield, so we will need to make a step forward before qualifying but I think we can aim for Q3 tomorrow. We should be quite strong, trying to be the best of the rest."
