MotoE | Devastating fire forces conclusion of Jerez MotoE Testing

Last night, a fire devastated the newly built E-paddock at Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, destroying the majority of the material for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup.

After the beginning of a brand-new venture for MotoE yesterday, Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) topped the timesheets, with a time of 1:48:984. Closely followed by Niki Tuuli (Ajo Motorsport MotoE) and Hector Garzo (Tech 3 E-racing). Just over 1 second covered the fastest eight riders, Mike Di Meglio (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) placed 4th, Alex De Angelis (Alma Pramac Racing) completed the top five. Josh Hook (Alma Pramac Racing) took 6th, placing just ahead of veteran, Randy De Puniet (LCR E-team), and yet another premier class podium finisher, Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing). The top 10 was completed by Jesko Raffin (Dynovolt Intact GP) and Lorenzo Savadori (Trentino Gresini MotoE). The riders were due to test for another two days, over the course of Thursday and Friday.

However, the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup has taken a devastating blow over night. At approximately 00:15 on March 14th, at Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, the E-paddock caught fire. The losses and damages are major, at present the cause of the fire is unknown, however an investigation has been launched.

Fortunately, there have been no injuries. An update is expected in the coming hours regarding the exact causes of the fire and any changes to the MotoE calendar.
