Reigning World Champion Marc Marquez topped the timing list at the Brno test the day after Andrea Dovizioso’s win at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

The eight-hour long session was mostly dominated by the two Ducati’s of Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo as they were at the top of the time sheets during the first few hours of the day. Lorenzo posted a fast time of 1m55.609s until his teammate went quicker but only by 0.092s.

But, then came the Honda’s of Marquez and his teammate Dani Pedrosa, who took their turn to be at the top of the time sheets.

Marquez was testing the new prototype Honda most of the day. He set the fastest time with 38 minutes of the day to go with a time of 1m55.209s. Closely followed by Johann Zarco who finished second place on the Tech 3 Yamaha and Pedrosa finished the day in third place.

Marquez said: “Today was positive and I’m very happy because we did a lot of laps with a good feeling since the start of the test.

“We started early this morning and we went on until the evening with a new thing to try in every run.

“It’s tough when you have such a busy schedule, but Honda is working hard and that’s great motivation for a rider; we did a great job in testing everything that they brought here to Brno.”

Both Ducati’s finished fourth and fifth.

Cal Crutchlow finished sixth on the LCR Honda, ahead of the Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi in seventh.

Rossi was the only factory Yamaha rider testing at Brno as Maverick Vinales’ crash in the Czech Grand Prix ruled him out of the test due to shoulder pain he sustained.

Danilo Petrucci was eighth ahead of Alex Rins on the Suzuki, his teammate Andrea Iannone finished 11th but missed half of the test due to a crash. Hafizh Syahrin rounded out the top 10.

The only KTM to run during the test, Bradley Smith, put his bike in 13th place.

Sylvain Guintoli, Suzuki test rider, finished the day 19th despite having two broken ribs.
