What was an open secret in the Formula 1 world has now been revealed as the category pinnacle of motorsport officially announced that it will be racing in Las Vegas.

The race will be the third Grand Prix F1 will be racing per year in the United States after following Miami and Austin, starting at the 2023 season in what is planned to be held during Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday night time.

Allegedly, the plan is to have a street circuit that uses streets in and around Las Vegas Boulevard, close to the Bellagio Resort & Casino. Drivers are expected to hit 342kmph on the speed trap at the circuit that will have three straights and fourteen turns, as the length of the race would be apparently 50 laps long.

The news was confirmed hours before the official announcement by Nevada’s Governor via Twitter, as he declared very happy with the deal and the event held with F1’s high commands.

"In December 2023, the best racing on the planet will be in Las Vegas. The intensity of Formula 1 in this Entertainment Capital of the World. This will play a huge part in the sport to be at another level. Building this race will be a joint effort and we are looking forward to doing this together." Stated F1's CEO, Stefano Domenicali.

Greg Maffei, President and CEO of Liberty Media, said: "We have witnessed the momentum of Formula 1 these last several seasons, and we have seen this potential turning to reality as we've watched our fanbase grow all around the world but especially here in the US. It is precisely that opportunity that entices Formula 1 and Liberty Media to assume the promoter role for this event."

Formula 1 will make its official return to Las Vegas in 2023 after not racing there since 1982 when Michele Alboreto won the Ceasars Palace Grand Prix. This will mark the 24th event on the 2023 calendar as F1 is looking to increase the total number of races for the near future.
