With more than half of the cars already been presented and launched, today, February 21st, it was Alpine's turn to reveal the design of its car. The A522, name of the single-seater that will be the contender for this 2022 season that will represent Alpine and will be driven by the two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, and one-time Grand Prix winner, Esteban Ocon, contains the representative blue colour of the French brand, however, highlights the pink colour representative of BWT, the team's main sponsor. Let us remember that the Austrian brand had already been the main sponsor of teams such as Racing Point and Aston Martin. A main sponsor usually has a lot of influence on the design and colours of the car; when BWT was with Racing Point, the team opted for a design where pink prevailed over all others; when it was with Aston Martin, the British team will remain with the brand's distinctive green, however, BWT did have its pink place inside the car.

During the launch of the A522, the two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, shared his views on various topics, including the departure of Michael Masi from the role of race director, the end of the 2021 championship, some news in the new Alpine that was launched and what are your expectations for this season. These were some of the most important statements of the Spanish driver.

Regarding the new FIA direction, Alonso commented: “I mean… the new president obviously wanted to make sure that everything was in place, as I said also a couple of times, I like Mohammed [the new FIA president], I like the approach he has. So, if he thinks that we needed some new ideas there, it’s for the good for everyone, so I’m happy with that.”

“On the whole theme of Abu Dhabi, maybe I have a different opinion, I don’t think that there was anything wrong there. I don’t think that they changed it [the race control structure] because of Abu Dhabi, or I hope not.”

Regarding Alonso’s expectations ahead of the 2022 season, Alonso affirmed: “I’m optimistic, I’m confident. I think the team did a really good job with the car and we are ready to go. I’m really excited about the new [aerodynamic] regulations. Obviously, from time-to-time, F1 changes the regulations and tries to mix a little bit of performance from everybody and for Alpine and some of the mid-field teams think that there is a new opportunity for sure.”
