Formula 1 will be back on track at the end of February for winter testing and Ferrari is now fit to take part in it, as it passed the FIA frontal crash test. The Scuderia has homologated the chassis of its 2022 single-seater and, like every year, undertook the dynamic test at the CSI Center in Bollate (Milan).

The new regulations that will be implemented at the start of the new season were supposed to debut this year, but were postponed due to the pandemic.

Indeed Ferrari had already carried out a crash test towards the end of 2020 in order for their engineers to better understand the restrictions the new regulations would put to the development of the ground effect car. A test that was useful to collect data and work on redesigning the single seater.

Ferrari has been looking forward to 2022, in hopes of going back to winning races and reduce the gap from RedBull and Mercedes.

“Certainly if Mercedes and RedBull in these years managed to develop the single-seaters that we saw, it means they have equipment, methods, computations, simulations and other certainties they have sharpened over time,” commented Team Principal Mattia Binotto.

“Hence, I believe it’s presumptuous to say today that we will beat Mercedes and Red Bull, because I think that the right attitude is making it our aim to try.”

“How many races we want to win? As many as we can,” he continued.

“When I say that Ferrari must always strive for the best, it’s true, we don’t want to start the season with low expectations. What we will be telling ourselves is that we want to win as many races as possible.”
