Mick Schumacher was the 19th fastest today ahead of his teammate Nikita Mazepin. The German driver who was the strongest of the team on Saturdays during the season with two Q2 appearances wasn´t very happy with his last Qualy of the year. "I'm happy that we had a good year overall with qualifying pace but I think today was not the best from my side – we didn't really know what we wanted from each other, the car and I. Those things happen, we learn from them and we'll go back and analyze what we did different and see how we can improve it. When we go back next year and we're in the position to be going into Q2 more, we don't have that. We had a pretty good car for qualifying, so hopefully we have an even better one for the race to go and fight."

MotorLat had access to an online media session with the young driver where he joked about the incident with a bollard that caused a brief red flag moment during Q1.

''The bollard didn´t fancy me so I decided to take it out and make it fly.”
And then explained his session “we were trying different things and in that case I just came a bit too close and misjudged by a few centimeters but overall I think that lap wasn´t great so I just tried something and ended up being pretty close to it. Overall, still, I think there was more to gain overall in some other corners so yeah the bollard was the smallest thing.”

Analysing his first season with only one race to go the driver said “I think we ticked most of the boxes. Obviously, one of the boxes was to score points. We still have a chance tomorrow. Hopefully, we´ll get that but even if not, it has been a successful campaign. We managed to get everything out of what we had…”
