A new addition to the team for Aston Martin in their quest to become a title contender in the next few years, as Mercedes’ Chief Aerodynamicist Eric Blandin is set to move to Silverstone.

“We can confirm that Eric Blandin will begin working for Aston Martin Cognizant F1 Team next year. His exact start date is not yet confirmed. The transition from Mercedes AMG F1 Team to ourselves will be an amicable one,” an Aston spokesperson told Motorsport.com.

Before joining the German team Blandin had already worked with both Red Bull and Ferrari, after moving the first steps in the aerodynamic section at Jaguar Racing back in 2002.

"Things haven't slowed down in the recruitment,” explained Team principal Otmar Szafnauer.

“But unless they're very senior, we don't announce everybody. We've hired over 150 people this year, and we will continue to hire.”

“If we want to win a World Championship in four years’ time it does take human resource, infrastructure, factory, wind tunnel, just like the top teams, and we're on that trajectory to do that.”

Back in June, RedBull had announced that Head of Aerodynamics DanFallows would have joined Aston Martin at the start of the new season as their new Technical Director. Fallows isn’t the only addiction coming from Milton Keynes, as the new hirings include Andrew Alessi, Red Bull’s Head of Technical Operations. While new Engineering Director, Luca Furbatto, is coming from Alfa Romeo and according to Szafnauer will join Aston very shortly.

“Luca will be with us within weeks. Yes, he was announced. But you know, just like everybody they've got their notice periods. So within weeks, Luca will be free to start with us,” he said.
