Mercedes-AMG's Valtteri Bottas put in a strong performance to finish second and maximise the points available for the second week in a row.

As the five lights went out, Hamilton and Bottas moved up to P3 and P4 respectively at the start of the race after a safety car restart on lap 4 which saw Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez drop 7 positions in the battle for P2 with McLaren's Lando Norris.

Following the chequered flag, the following are the standings: With 182 points, Verstappen is 32 points ahead of Hamilton, who has 150, Perez, who has 104, and Bottas, who is not far behind with 92.

In the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull (286 points) leads Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team (242 points) by 44 points.

Post-race, Bottas comments, "For me personally, P2 one place better than last week and I started from fifth so not a bad afternoon."

He continues, "I think as a team we got some decent points considering the gap we have to Red Bull in terms of pure pace. For me it’s nice to be on the podium again in second place and I think we really maximised what we could get today."

He adds, "The tyres held on pretty well today which was a surprise."

The Finn concludes, "Next two weeks of hardwork and learning then Silverstone, it will be great to see the fans there and I hope we can pick up our pace to give it a real fight there."
