It’s no news that Red Bull has been recruiting engine personnel from Mercedes for a while now. With Honda leaving, next year the team will start making their own Power Units for the very first time since their Formula 1 arrival.

But this time it’s the British team losing an employee to another constructor, Dan Fallows.

Fallows started working in F1 in 2002 with Jaguar Racing as a senior aerodynamicist and has been at Red Bull ever since 2006. Currently he is the team’s Head of Aerodynamics, a role he was promoted to in 2014. And after 15 years he will be leaving Milton Keynes at the end of the current season to join Aston Martin.

“It goes without saying that Dan will be missed, as he has played an important role during his time at Red Bull Racing and I would like to thank him for his contribution towards the team’s successes,” said RedBull’s Team Principal Christian Horner regarding his departure.

He helped the team progress through the hybrid era and before that win eight world titles in four years. At Aston Martin he will be part of the team’s new technical structure: he will be Technical Director and will join Furbatto the Engineering Director, just hired from Alfa Romeo, and Tom McCullough who was recently promoted to Performance Director.

A loss for RedBull, who is ready nonetheless to look for new talents and give its employees the chance to progress within the team, as Horner explained.

“We do however recognise that the chance to take on the role of Technical Director within a Formula 1 team is an appealing next step in his career. In turn, this move creates exciting internal progression opportunities as we look to the future and draw from the wealth of talent within the wider team.”
