Quite a good weekend for Antonio Giovinazzi in Monte Carlo, as he reached Q3 for the first time this season and finished the race in 10th place.

“It was a great weekend,” he said.

The Alfa Romeo driver claimed he felt very comfortable in the car right from the beginning.

“Since FP1, the confidence was there in the car. Yesterday we put together a great lap to go through to Q3."

"Points, of course, are always good for the team – especially the first points of the year."

For himself and for the team, as last time they scored points was back in 2020 in Imola, when Giovinazzi finished in P10 and his teammate Kimi Raikkonen secured the 9th position.

Yet he believes it would have been possible to finish in a slightly better position and score more points.

“I think we could’ve done a little bit better, maybe eighth or ninth was possible today. But still, really happy and good motivation for the team as well.”

As for the race itself “I think it’s the first Monaco Grand Prix [for a while] without a Safety Car, so nobody made a mistake,” commented Giovinazzi.

Nonetheless racing in streets of Monte Carlo is not an easy task, it keeps drivers on the line and can be quite tiring mentally, as Giovinazzi explained.

“It’s quite intense, 78 laps, trying to be always on the limit with a lot of fuel in the car, so it was not easy at all. I’m a little bit tired mentally, not physically, but scoring points of course is always nice and I’m really happy.”
