It’s time to get back on the track. We still have in the eyes the amazing pictures of the Tuscan Grand Prix, an unexpected and thrilling race with the flavour of a golden past in it. Then we had a break for the last weekend and teams and drivers are really ready to show off again in the next race.

They are in Russia, going in circles on the Sochi Autodrome, one of the newest of the circuit. It was built in 2014 and ever since Mercedes have won every single edition. It seems like this year is not going to be very different, at least according to the first session of the Free Practices.

The news is that the number one this time is not Lewis Hamilton, who won 5 out of 6 edition the Russian Grand Prix. The leader is Valtteri Bottas , who scored a time of 1.34.923.

A very surprisingly result is to watch Daniel Ricciardo go and get a great second position on his Renault. The Australian conquered a time of 1.35.430.

In the third place, instead, there is an ‘aficionado’ to this position. We are talking about Max Verstappen on his Red Bull. The Dutch is showing that he is not done with fighting for a great position in the drivers’ standigs even if he had to retire in the last two races.

In the fourth and fifth place there are two Racing Point, with Sergio Perez who finished this session ahead of Lance Stroll, proving to the other teams that he deserves a seat and he’s available.

At the same time, the Racing Point can send a message of strength to Sebastian Vettel, promising him that podium so much missed. Behind them there is the other Renault, the one driven by Esteban Ocon, followed by the guest of this Grand Prix Daniil Kvyat. Alex Albon, after the last race’ success gets only an eighth place, ahead of Sebastian Vettel, again in the top ten, even if it is just a  Free Practice session by now, and Pierre Gasly closes the top ten standings. Charles Leclerc has to accept his 11th position.
