The second session of Free Practices in Spa tells us a different story than the ones we are used to listen to. This story talks about a stubborn Australian who used to have the world at his feet when he was younger only to be left apart once a new leader came in his way. This leader is a young champion with the races flowing into his bloodline. He does prove to be the only alternative to Mercedes.

Max Verstappen, indeed, ended up this session in a great way, being first with super time ahead of Daniel Ricciardo. Hard to believe, the Australian made it to bring his Renault in a super second position. There is to say that the most impressive fact of these sessions is to admire Ricciardo ahead of the quickest driver of these times. Lewis Hamilton, in fact, finished only third. It would be an important result to almost everyone but not when you are used to dominate each session and race and annihilate every other racer. Another surprise comes in the fourth position, where we find Alex Albon, followed up by Perez.

Valtteri Bottas ended these FP2 only sixth. At the seventh position there is a very good Lando Norris on his McLaren, ahead of Ocon’s Renault and the other McLaren with Carlos Sainz. Pierre Gasly with his Alpha Tauri closes up the schedule of the top ten drivers.

Don’t we miss someone? Ferrari are still having troubles with their car. The SF1000 proclaims to be slow once again. It is the first race of a triple-header that continues with two races in Italy, where the Prancing Horse is seriously at risk of embarrassing itself even more. Let’s wait and see what might happen tomorrow though. As we have experienced today, anything could happen.
