The announcement of the turbulent divorce between Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari opened up the way to another Spaniard in Maranello: it’s Carlos Sainz.

The thunder-news of the German and the Italian team parting ways have opened the drivers’ market in a moment of pause caused by the Coronavirus, leading to a series of names of the contenders to that prestigious role.

It was rumoured since the news came out that Charles Leclerc could have a Red Bull jr driver next to him for the following season. Although both Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo were contenders for the Prancing Horse free spot, in the end it has been Sainz who took the gaunce and signed up for the Italian team.

"I'm pleased to announce that Carlos will join Scuderia Ferrari as from the 2021 championship. With five season already behind him, Carlos has proved to be very talented and has shown that he has the technical ability and the right attributes to make in an ideal fit to our family"- Ferrari's team principal Mattia Binotto stated- "We've embarked on a new cycle with the aim tof getting back to the topin Formula 1. It will be a long journeynot without its difficulties , especially given the current financial and regulatory situation (...)"

"We believe that a driver pairing with the talent and personality of Charles and Carlos, the youngest in the past fifty years of the Scuderia will be the best possible combination to help us reach the goals we ahve set ourselves"

An happening like this could look like a deja-vù for many, as we have already experienced a similar situation. In fact. this is the second time that a Spaniard arrives in Maranello.

Carlos Sainz jr shows in a pratical way to be the real heir of Fernando Alonso and effectively he is walking on his same path. Both in their carreers have raced first with Toro Rosso (the team raced under the name Minardi when Alonso was with them), then Renault, later McLaren and ahead- direction Maranello.

"I am very happy that I will be driving for Scuderia Ferrari in 2021 and I'm excited about my future with the team.- declared Sainz - I still have an important year ahead with McLaren Racing and I'm really looking forward to going racing again with them this season!"

Could Sainz be the one who would end the famine of World titles for Ferrari? Probably he will help his partner to do so but who knows what could happen in the future.
