The worldwide outbreak of the virus has hit all areas, including motorsport championships. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Formula 1 season still haven’t  started. Races that were supposed to start in March-June have been postponed or canceled.

Obviously the current situation primarily affects the finances - of organizers, contractors and participating teams themselves.

The boss of Alfa Romeo compared this situation to the crisis in 2008, when several teams were left on the verge of leaving the Formula 1, and emphasized that it may well happen again.

"The financial crisis in 2008 meant that three to four teams had to leave F1 and that could happen again", Vasseur told to Canal+.

"We don’t get TV money and without a solution we get into trouble. We are all in the same boat, so we have to come to a solution together."

Despite the status, all teams are experiencing financial difficulties. But Federic believes that the most important thing now is to take care of the safety and health of all participants involved in the championship, and not to try to speed up the process of returning to the racing.

"As a sport we have to be humble and be able to see the problems in a perspective.

"We shouldn’t want to race around with cars now. When they’re ready, we’ll race," he added.
