As we all know the news regarding the coronavirus are renewed all the time. The virus is causing new infected and deaths around the world.

Formula 1 postponed the Chinese Grand Prix because it was first discovered and isolated in Wuhan (capital of Hubei Province and the most populous city in central China), after causing the coronavirus pneumonia epidemic of 2019 -2020. Another category that modifies its calendar is the MotoGP that cancelled the Qatar GP (only Moto2 and Moto3 run) and the Thai GP was postponed without a specific date.

Why are we saying this? Because the organizers of the Bahrain GP of F1 have stopped selling tickets for the second date of the 2020 calendar that will be held on March 22 while assessing the situation of the coronavirus.

The international circuit of Bahrain has issued a statement on Thursday ensuring that if circumstances permit, more tickets will be taken at a later date, while leaving open the option of returning the money if the event finally has to reduce the number of spectators. As it is already known, it is about reducing the number of people who can be together to avoid more infected people.

“The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is committed to holding a safe and exciting Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix for local and international fans, and is working closely with all relevant Government departments, including the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Interior, to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). In light of the continued global outbreak of COVID-19, the BIC has announced that it will be phasing the sales of Grand Prix tickets to ensure appropriate social distancing guidelines are met.” The text notes.

Successful decision given the seriousness of the cases that are known around the world, especially in countries such as Italy or Japan.

Nobody wanted to make statements about the total of tickets already sold, but the circuit organization wants this GP to be carried out in a safe and exciting way. As long as it is not dangerous for any human being involved in this event.

With regard to the facilities and the care of them, the organizers add: “This precautionary step has been introduced along with a number of public health measures ahead of the Grand Prix to ensure the safety of all spectators, teams and circuit staff. These include screening procedures on entry, specialist medical facilities onsite, enhanced sanitation at the circuit, additional hand washing stations, information points for fans, as well as specific medical protocols to manage any suspected cases of COVID-19.”

In addition to the restrictions of travellers who have been in affected countries in the 14 days prior to the Bahrain GP, ​​there are limitations on flights from Dubai, a popular route for the GP, which will fly with Emirates Airlines from Melbourne.

We add that the FIA, together with the FOM, has requested the teams; providers and press detailed information of their travel plans, with place of lodging and flight number with which they will enter the country, in order to facilitate the mentioned transit of people involved.
