It’s been eleven years since the last time the Scuderia has presented its Formula 1 car away from Maranello: back in 2009 the Ferrari F60 of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen was unveiled at Mugello.
But that’s history now, and Ferrari has chosen Reggio Emilia for a symbolic reason: it was there that 223 years ago the iconic Italian flag 'Tricolore' was created and later adopted as national banner, as stated by Jonathan Giacobazzi in a brief introducing video.

2020 is going to be a crucial year for Ferrari: after the very first decade without a championship in the history of the Italian team, the Prancing Horse is willing to start off the ‘20s on the right foot. Moreover, in Canada the team will celebrate its 1000th Grand Prix start.
The hopes of Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc, the whole team, and basically the entire nation behind are put on the new Ferrari SF1000.

In the wonderful venue of Teatro Valli, the presentation has been introduced by an orchestra playing with engine sounds in the background and an electronic remix. That’s the spirit of Ferrari according to its own members: an epic past shifted in the modern days.
Following a very choreography introduction, Marc Gené and Silvia Hoffer welcomed on stage Louis Camilleri. Ferrari’s chairman firstly thanked the sponsors and the ‘unsung heroes’ represented by the long-time Ferrari workers.
“Ferrari is focussed on the long term, –said Camilleri- and there’s a lot of pressure lying on our shoulders. But we know how to transfer it into motivation”. The CEO then expressed his faith in team principal Mattia Binotto and in the two drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.
A dancing performance accompanied Camilleri out of the stage. “A performance that fully represents Ferrari’s values: innovation, team work and commitment” called out Marc Gené, before welcoming Mattia Binotto on stage. The team principal underlined the importance of the work done on reliability, their ‘biggest weakness in 2019’.

Finally, alongside another artistic performance, the curtain opened and the SF1000 was shown to the world on a spinning platform. “We took the basis of the SF90 and brought it to the extreme” stated Mattia Binotto. “It may look similar to last year, but trust me, it’s very different.”
You can really spot the differences from last year. We found clever solutions to make it tighter, I can’t wait to drive it” commented Sebastian Vettel.
Same hype for Charles Leclerc: “I've worked hard with the team to get the best car possible. I've also prepared phisically and mentally to be a better driver in 2020".

While Mercedes and Haas have already unveiled their new livery, the SF1000 is the very first actual 2020 F1 car revealed to the public.
Tomorrow it's Red Bull's turn.
