Unfortunately Pierre Gasly’s last race was a "nuisance" because of the collision caused by Lance Stroll at the begging of the competition. Although Gasly’s weekend was quite good and he qualified 11th, he finished in the 18th position whereas Stroll was forced to retire due to brakes problems on the 48th lap.

Regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident, at the first corner of the track, Lance Stroll bumped into Pierre Gasly’s car which struck the other Racing Point driver’s car [#11 Sergio Perez] who was ahead of him.
Following on from that Pierre was forced to pit to replace his damaged front wing and nose cone.

It was not expected to end in P18 and Pierre expressed some sharp statements after the race. Moreover, the French driver was fighting against Carlos Sainz Jr. for the sixth place in the Drivers’ Standings who managed to conduct a great race ending in P10 and overcoming Gasly in the championship.

In the interview with Canal+ Pierre Gasly said "I'm just disgusted with what happened, because we clearly had the potential to keep sixth place and that's it."

"Last race of the season, just to ruin your race with the first-corner incident, it's clearly annoying," he continued.

"I will have a couple of days to calm down and just think back at the whole season, because a lot of things happened, there are a lot of things to debrief, a lot of things to look at, and just to make sure we come back strong for next season."

This 2019 season ends with some disappointments, but we already keep our eyes on the next one.
