As usual, today was Friday and that means that Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 were held in the Yas Marina Circuit ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Toro Rosso drivers and crew are very inspired after an excellent 2019 season. Their two drivers achieved one podium each. Even though not all the races and Grand Prix have been great as they were expecting, those two podiums were what they wanted, and we need to congratulate them because they were one of the two non-top-3-teams that achieved a podium.

During FP1, Pierre Gasly finished on P16 with 17 laps under his belt. It was a tough session for the Italian team. His best lap was 1:40.401. The Frenchman suffered on FP1 due to Daniel Ricciardo’s engine failure and Gasly’s car got covered of oil. During the evening session, his best lap was 1:37.770 and he managed to finish on P10. It worth mention that during the second practice session, Pierre completed 36 laps and some of them were with the soft compound to practice a qualy run.

“It was a bit of a messy FP1 between the red flags and getting blocked on my second run, so it wasn’t an ideal session as we didn’t do many laps. The good thing was we were still able to test a couple of things we had planned.” Commented the Frenchman.

“FP2 was a better session, as between the two cars we completed more testing ahead of Qualifying and the race, so now we have good things to analyse to decide what’s the best configuration for tomorrow. I’m happy with this afternoon, the long-run pace was strong, and I think there’s more to come in the short runs. To finish in the top ten today makes us feel positive.” Added Gasly.
