After two good sessions for Max Verstappen, the Dutchman seems happy with the performance of his car and he thinks they will have a good race pace but they are not expecting to fight with Ferrari for the pole position. Max finished on P3 with a best lap time of 1:17.461 and he was only 0.134 seconds slower than the leader. During the evening session, the Dutchman finished on P2 (only behind of Sebastian Vettel), his best lap time was of 1:16.722 and he completed 37 laps.

“Today was a pretty positive day. We used some new parts in the car, we improved all day and in the end, I was quite satisfied with the balance. Of course, there are still things to improve, but you can’t complain when you’re purple in sectors two and three.” Commented the Red Bull driver.

Even though this statements, Max doesn’t think that they will fight against Ferrari and he thinks they (Ferrari) are the favorites to take pole position.

“I don’t think we can realistically fight Ferrari for pole, since they are too fast in the straights and there are not enough turns to make up the difference, but it seems that we are in the same speed range in long runs.” The Dutchman added.

“Now we just have to focus on the race where our pace looks more competitive and if we can keep our tires under control, then I think it will be a closed race.”

Max has won the Mexican Grand Prix on the last 2 years and the Red Bulls are very competitive in this track, of course they don’t want to have high expectations but their race-pace looks really positive. As Max said, it will be a close race against Ferrari and maybe Mercedes.
