It has been a special day for the snake-branded team. A hot weather didn't stop 70 factory colleagues to come directly from the Hinwil headquarters and show their support. A four hours bus trip that filled the grandstand opposite to Alfa's box gave the working crew an extra boost. A day off worth of being taken, since Kimi Raikkonen managed to get into the FP2 top ten, even if, as the Finn says, the times start to metter only from tomorrow.
"It’s been a regular Friday and I tend not to look at the times when it is just practice. We always seem to be a bit behind in FP1 and make up ground as the weekend goes on, but times only matter from tomorrow afternoon."
Kimi also looks like to be looking foreward to tomorrow's weather: "[Today] the conditions weren’t ideal: the heat made it a bit tricky but in the end it’s the same for everybody. It’ll be interesting to see what the weather does tomorrow and on Sunday, but we just need to focus on the work we have to do to get where we want.”

Not the same joy coming from Antonio Giovinazzi's side of the garage. P18 and P17 respectively weren't the position he was aiming for. Nevertheless, the italian driver looks confident for the rest of the weekend: “It was a very hot first day of action. I did a small mistake on my push lap on softs but I think we have a competitive car so far."
Being such a self-reflecting driver, Antonio prefers to stay cautious on the possibility of a wet scenario: "The weather could change tomorrow but in the end, even if it rains, it’s the same for everyone so we need to adapt to it. We will push to find the best setup tonight and to get a good result in qualifying.”
